Change = Growth.

This picture was taken almost one year ago, today.

For my birthday, my hubby and I travelled to Seattle for Harvest, hosted by Greg Laurie. We listened to some incredible bands and powerful words of truth. And, at the end of the evening, to both of our surprise, Dave and I renewed our faith… In front of 16,000 people!

For years, we had both called ourselves Christians and it’s not to say we weren’t, but we hadn’t genuinely asked God to reside in our hearts. Nor did we determine our actions, path or goals, through prayer and with our faith. For months, we had both desired more. For Change.  For spiritual growth. But until that moment, we didn’t know what that looked like, or what it even meant.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks will find; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

So, as we stood there front and center, amidst the other brave souls, we spoke vulnerably, asking that God would come and shape our hearts; that our will would align with His, and that we’d mark each step of our journey in Him, as our leader and forgiver. Little did we know, we opened a can of worms. The people we were coming, we not the people leaving!

The year that followed was one of overwhelming change and astronomical growth. As our hearts began to change, so did our lives; our ideas, our work and our goals changed. Our motives, our values and our measuring stick changed. I mean, everything changed. And with it, brought many heartaches, fear and frustrations. But through it all, our hearts held on stronger. The Holy Spirit had entered our hearts and was determined to do an over haul. And that, He did!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”  2Corinthians 5:17

Don’t be fooled: there were bumps along the road. But nothing compares to the joy and fullness we’ve experienced. There’s a fire inside our souls and I wish for every person to experience it. Life has never been more beautiful or exciting and each day brings with it, immeasurable joy. Simple and Pure. There is no greater sensation in this world, than that of the Grace and Compassion of Christ. He has made our world anew.

Joy.  Love.  Peace.  Contentment.

These words have never rung truer in my life! They have a whole new meaning and I experience it, each and every day.

Friends have called our growth “radical,” and frequently, people share their shock. “You are entirely different people. I would never have imagined!”  Others, are entirely skeptical and very slow to acceptance. That’s Ok. I am proud to share my story, it’s a testiment to its authenticity!  Because It is not a “phase,” or a fleeting state of life. In Christ, we are made new and it is in Him, that I finally found the grace filled “perfection” I was seeking.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ that lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

He has turned my world upside down and for the better. Praise be to Him for molding my heart a-new.
