“The values we inhabit and the people we surround ourselves with have a profound impact on who we are”- Malcolm Gladwell
I have the most incredible support system. My friends have become my family and their constant encouragement, input and genuine care for me is surreal. I dreamt my whole life of friends like the ones that surround me now. The last four years have been a whirlwind of discovery, change and personal growth. And with that comes great hesitation and unfamiliarity from some. As you find your true self, your heart and your priorities shift, others will drift away, unsure and possibly comfortable, with the person they once knew.
But it is important to stay true to yourself. No Matter the hurt, the lack of support or seeming disapproval. Do not let the looks and remarks get you down or rain on your parade. You are your own person and only you lives with yourself, your conscience and your heart.
Many people live in fear of the person they could be, hiding behind their things, their masks and their wit. Go ahead. Make them uncomfortable. Embrace your heart and be true to what makes you tick. Its OK to be different…different than what you thought, different than others views, different than how you were raised. Recognize the negative, pray about it and walk away.
Leave it behind. It can’t touch you. You don’t own it.
“The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind.” Philippians 4:6
Whether it’s friends, family, mentors or business….clear the negative clutter and clothe yourself in positive. Surround yourself with those that love you, unconditionally, inspire you and push you to be a better person.
It’s amazing the person you’ll become, if you just let go and allow yourself.
“You made me bold, with strength in my soul.” Psalm 13:3
