me

I love learning about the person behind the business.

Recently, I fell upon this questionnaire and  thought it was a wonderful way to get to know the faces behind the business. If nothing else, it was a great opportunity for them to share parts of themselves, I may not otherwise, have come to know.

So, today, I share with you: “A little of this and a little of that”

What are your favorite flowers? Peonies, Garden Roses, Dahlias, Anemone. {dusty miller is my foliage of choice!}

What is your day like? Each day brings with it many new surprises. Some are eventful, to the utmost expression of the word and others, are calm and tranquil.  A few things are for certain: I wake to coffee with my sweety, each morning. We spend the first 30 minutes of the day chatting, sharing our plans for the day and keeping each other informed of our emotions, our fears and our excitement.

I then spend a large portion of the day in my office, blogging and working on bettering my business. Every day has new tasks and goals. You can follow along on Twitter.

For myself, I take time for a run or walk each day, with my pooch Guinness. I also take small breaks to do things that fill me up, like bake, craft, write, read or simply dream.

The evenings are always different but before bed, my sweety and I watch an episode of our favorite shows, Reba and According to Jim. Then we cuddle in bed and read before lights out. How I start and end my day, set the tone for each and every 24 hrs. They are so important to me.

You would be surprised to know  I am an absolute health nut but my favorite foods are the most sinfully delicious and simple: macaroni and cheese, ice cream, pizza, cupcakes and candy.

I am committed to encouraging and inspiring woman to live passionately, reach for their dreams and find the beauty in every day moments, as well as the monumental occasions.

What do you enjoy most about your job When it comes to blogging, I love finding and sharing the personal detailing in events; everything from the perfectly pretty, hand-tied bouquet, to the hand-made touches the Bride and her mother put into the event. For me, it’s not about re-inventing the wheel but rather, making it your own; precious and special for reasons close your your heart.

As for event planning and design, I love it all! From the initial meeting with clients, to seeing their faces on the big day, I adore getting to know people at this very exciting, new and somewhat stressful point in their lives. Many times, couples become life long friends and the start to our story as friends, carries many special memories and laughs.

Favorite non-wedding blogs/sites I love inspirational blogs and websites. Two of my favorite are Visual Inspiration 365 and Harvest: Greg Laurie.

Favorite magazines/books/publications My favorite magazines are Oxygen and Bliss Victoria. As for books, I am the most hopeless of romantics.  Nicholas Sparks’ is my favorite fictional author and Stormie Omartian is my nightly go to. Her “power of a praying..” series have helped me deepen my faith and strengthen my prayer life, in ways I never knew possible. I highly recommend them! And last, but far from least, the Bible.

Favorite foods Besides the goodness I mentioned before, I am obsessed with peanut butter, cereal and  kettle baked, 60% less fat honey BBQ chips. I don’t go a day without any of them {m m good!}

What is your dream vacation spot Italy and Paris and I believe this is a reflection of the two sides of my personality.

{Paris} The glitz, the glamor, the fashion and the luxe living. However, my heart lies in the country, picnicking and sharing in fabulous food with friends and family. {Italy} History, heritage and architecture make me swoon. And the simple pleasures in life bring me more joy than anything else!

Random facts about me:

  • I trained to be a professional dancer for 15 years. A car accident put me out for 6 months and I was too terrified of the technique I had lost, to ever go back. A testament to the power of fear, I use this as a reminder, if you truly want something, to push through, no matter the circumstance, fear, ego or struggle.
  • I was a personal trainer, fitness instructor and fitness competitor in my previous life. It helped me battle a 6 year eating disorder and ultimately, saved me from it. There is nothing quite like the feeling of my heart beating while trail running, the strength I feel while lifting weights and how alive and vibrant I feel by eating clean and with appreciation for the food that fuels me.
  • I am obsessed with Chanel, Cameo’s, Pearls, Pink and all things circa 1940 {classic movies, Big Band and Rat PacK Music} , including trains.
  • Vanilla musks are my scent of choice: My signature is Vera Wang Princess.

Hidden talents?

  • I can make a healthy version of almost any “traditionally bad for you” food. My recipes taste better…in my humble opinion, anyway!
  • I have a knack for dog training. My sweety and I have adopted many of Cesar Milan’s techniques in helping “break” and “train” friends and relatives dogs.
  • With almost anything, I am very good at finding budget friendly solutions, that look luxe and expensive.
  • Advice giving: I am an old-soul which lends nicely to wisdom beyond my years. I don’t know how I got this knack, but people have always come to me for advice and are continually astounded my insight and understanding. I’m flattered and happy to help.
  • Photography: I’ve been told I have an eye. Either way, I love capturing moments and spending hours editing them.

In the words of Oprah… “Here’s what I know for sure…”

God has great plans for my life, in ways and on platforms I never dreamt possible. I lean not on my own understanding but in him.
