Many people want lots and more.
While those words seem small and unoriginal, they are loaded. What is more? What is lots?
Money? Things? Success? Power? Authority?
Maybe. But you’ll drive yourself into the ground trying. It’s a never ending battle and when you get a taste, it’s never enough. You’re eternally wanting, never content or awake to the gifts you’ve already been blessed with.
While my dreams are big and my aspirations wide, I keep my eye on the prize and it’s very simple.
- A family I have time to enjoy and be present for the little moments
- A career that I’m passionate about and makes me giddy, each morning
- and a home by the water, with a porch that I can have my morning coffee on and write.
This is not about demeaning efforts or setting the bar too low. It’s about recognizing why we do what we do and for what.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” James 13:1
